Sage Ridge Vineyard is a high elevation Mountain site located east of St. Helena, and adjacent to Pritchard Hill, but situated at a slightly higher altitude. The 2017 Sage Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon is an immense, towering wine from Russell Bevan, which is one of the most profound wines from the vintage. It instantly begins with intense aromatics of blueberries, blackcurrants and crème de cassis, along with sweet spices, graphite, violets and dusty nuances that explode from the glass. On the palate this colossal wine is full-bodied and incredibly concentrated, with remarkable depth, as rich layers of sweetly ripe dark fruits expand through the wine. The finish is long, supple and mouth coating, leaving behind loads of ripe dark and blue fruits that linger on and on. This is an absolutely massive bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that is sexy and seductive today, yet should also offer many years of drinking pleasure ahead. Readers who enjoy full-throttle, big-time Napa Valley Cabernet will instantly fall in love with Bevan's Sage Ridge Vineyard Cabernet, it is a monster of a wine.
