I could pick out this Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain in a blind tasting, 10 out of 10 times because of the sense of place that it encompasses on the nose. This blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot is aged for 22 months in 75% new French oak and has that mountain sage note that I only find on Red Mountain wines, along with the typical notes of blackberry, cassis, candied violets, cigar ash, graphite, and cedary herbs. Very well balanced between the dark fruit flavors, the medium tannins, and the medium-plus acidity, this is a lovely Cabernet that will age gracefully for the next 8-10 years. Only 150 cases produced.
