The 2021 Cuvée J Pinot Noir from Evesham Wood spent about 18 months in 25% new French oak barrels and came from mostly 1986 own-rooted Pommard clones. Selected from the best 6 barrels, it’s a lovely masterclass in showcasing elegance and power coming through at the same time. Glimmering light ruby-garnet cored, with a neon brick rim in the glass, it imparts aromas of strawberry rhubarb pie, mountain raspberries, candied blueberries, mountain sage, and a grilled lemony citrus tone that hits the back palate. Tannins are silky smooth but the wine has enough structure to carry this for another 8-10 years of proper aging. 148 cases made. Highly recommended.
