BLANKIET ESTATE
United States, California, Napa Valley
ABOUT
Blankiet Estate is owned by Claude & Katherine Blankiet. The Blankiet's searched for many years for a track of land on the western foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Napa Valley with the single vision of producing world class wines. In January of 1996 they had the chance to view an undeveloped hillside above the Napanook vineyard in Yountville. Without any hesitation, the Blankiet's bought the land on the spot and named it Paradise Hills. The rest is history, today Blankiet produces some on the most compelling examples of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in all of Napa. Graeme MacDonald currently heads the winemaking duties.
VINEYARD
Paradise Hills Vineyard is located on the western foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains above Yountville in the cooler part of the Napa Valley. Viticulturist David Abreu and winemaker Helen Turley were brought in to develop Paradise Hills Vineyard into four distinct sections. Each sub-section is distinguished by unique subsoil and microclimate. Grapes planted in this area take longer to mature on the vine allowing for riper tannins, darker pigmentation and deeply perfumed fruit. The vineyards are east and southeast facing, ideal for maximizing photosynthesis with intense morning sun and natural protection from the hot afternoon rays. Paradise Hills is farmed organically and is Napa Green Certified.
