The Pedregal vineyard is located on the lower slopes of the eastern Oakville hills. “Pedregal” means a rocky place in Spanish, and that is certainly a distinguishing feature of the site. The 2009 vintage is what Napa Valley Cabernet is all about for me, wonderful ripe concentrated fruit, structure, depth, richness and impeccable balance are all characteristics this wine offers. The intoxicating aromas of cassis, dark plums, roasted herbs, mocha, heirloom tomato and anise pull you right in from the second the cork is pulled. This wine does not miss a beat as the round polished tannins glide the fruit effortlessly into the gorgeous finish. The 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot was aged 24 months in completely new French barrels. It's hard to say enough about this wine in just a tasting note, it's something you must experience for yourself. (Best 2015-2027) - April, 2013 (JD)
