CHÂTEAU MOULIN RICHE Saint-Julien 2010

Moulin Riche has been part of the Cuvelier family’s vineyards since 1920 and was the second wine of Léoville Poyferré before going under its own independent label in 2009. The 2010 is a stylish wine with lots of character, it's composed of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with the addition of Merlot and a dash of Petit Verdot, the same which is sometimes used in Léoville Poyferré’s grand vin. It displays a dark, inky color with alluring aromas of blackberries and dark cherries followed by spices, graphite, toast along with hints of violets, earth and dried cedar. It offers a rich, plush texture that is layered and nicely concentrated. The finish is long and polished with dark fruits and spices gripping hold. Although this is already very expressive, and drinking well today, it will be even better with just a bit of time. This is a great look at a 2010 made with the pedigree and techniques of a top Château. (Best 2016-2025) - June, 2014 (JD)
