ANTHILL FARMS Pinot Noir 'Abbey-Harris Vineyard' 2012

This lovely Pinot Noir is from the Abbey-Harris vineyard, which is only two acres and sits at 900 to 1100 feet, facing south above the town of Boonville in the Anderson Valley. The soils are part of the Wolfey-Bearwallow complex: roughly half the vineyard has very pale, sandy soil mixed with pink quartz, while the other half has more organic matter as well as large shale outcroppings, this diversity of soil helps contribute to the complexity and balance in the wine. The wine itself is absolutely striking, with gorgeous aromas of wild cherry, spice, rose pedal, potpourri, red berry, fresh strawberry and mineral. It is balanced with a gorgeous silky texture that gently caresses the palate. The fruit is pure and opulent all the way into the long, racy finish. Drink this beauty now or over the next decade.
