2013 Top 100 - Rank # 7
The 2008 Colonnello is just as impressive for its elegance and purity as the Cicala but this is offering a bit more concentration and complexity at this stage. It brings absolutely gorgeous aromas of freshly crushed ripe strawberries and blackberries layered with tar, scorched earth, spices, crushed stone and floral. Showing impeccable focus and depth with a firm structure and an insanely long finish filled with fresh fruits and minerals that grip hold and seem to never let go. Today the estate is run by Aldo Conterno’s three sons Giacomo, Franco and Stefano Conterno who continue to make world-class wines for the estate. (Best 2016-2032) - February, 2013 (JD)
