The 2014 W.S. Keyes Merlot is extremely captivating, composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon which was sourced from the oldest blocks in the vineyard and spent 19 months in French oak. This begins with seductive aromas of blackberries, dark currants, graphite, sweet spices, violets, cocoa bean and hints of loam which are nearly impossible to resist. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully structured, with remarkable depth and concentration, backed by a gorgeous voluptuous texture. It continues to impress as ripe dark fruits, spices and cinnamon nuances leave an impression on the long, plush finish. Delicious now, but also has remarkable aging potential as well.
