The 2013 Le Coste de Monforte spent 36 months in large French oak barrels, plus an additional 6 months in the bottle before release. The wine itself elegant and refined, as it begins with aromas of strawberries and dried cherries which are woven together with rose petals, eucalyptus, wet stones and hints of smoke all developing in the glass. Medium-bodied and beautifully structured with fine tannins and outstanding overall focus and precision. The finish is long and dry, leaving a lasting impression of red fruits lingering. Still very primal at this stage, and will need some extended bottle age before it begins to show its best stuff, nonetheless a gorgeous Barolo.
