The 2016 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir from Domaine de la Côte opens with inviting aromas of red berries, pomegranate juice, damp earth, mint, oyster shell and rose petals all developing beautifully in the glass. On the palate this possesses gorgeous ripe red fruits, followed by nuances of salted dark chocolate, sweet spices and earthy flavors which are delivered through a medium body with wonderful overall structure. This is already quite appealing, however I expect it will benefit from some short-term cellaring before it begins to show its best stuff.
