The Mohrhardt Ridge Vineyard Cabernet comes from a vineyard site in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA in Sonoma. Situated at 1400 feet elevation on the Pacific Coast, this wine really benefit from the costal climate and terroir. It has a beautiful dense purple color, with floral notes integrated with blackberries, cassis, graphite, olive and tobacco. This full-bodied effort is balanced and opulent, with wonderful sweet tannins, mouth coating texture and great acidity leading into the long finish. A classically styled Cabernet that is appealing in its youth, but ideally will show its best if allowed another few years of bottle age, nonetheless a fantastic wine.
