The 2014 Lazzarito is an absolutely gorgeous showing from this 2-hectare single vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba, where the vines average 35-years in age. It begins with pretty aromas of dark cherries and sweet red berries that are woven together with fresh florals and hints of tar and eucalyptus all developing in the glass. On the palate this is refined, with beautiful fine, silky tannins and wonderful overall balance and structure. It continues to impress as it displays remarkable focus and precision through the long, elegant finish. Lazzarito may be the most accessible wine from Vietti in this vintage, that being said, it will still require quite a bit of time in the cellar before it begins show its full potential.
