The 2016 ‘Les Parents des Contrebandiers’ is another brilliant wine from Mas Saint-Louis in this vintage. It opens to inviting aromas of raspberries and plums which are laced with sweet spices, and herbs with hints of smoke and licorice. On the palate this shows remarkable freshness and purity, in combination with fantastic overall concentration and depth. This full-bodied red continues to impress with its gorgeous plush, velvety texture and outstanding overal balance all the way through the long, spice-tinged finish. It is absolutely stunning as a young wine, but will certainly continue develop even further complexity as it matures over the next decade to two.
