The 2016 vintage yielded sensational wines across the region, with particularly outstanding results in Saint-Estèphe, and the Château Segur de Cabanac is a wonderful example of that. This gorgeous wine impresses with is attractive aromatics of dark cherries and currants which are seamlessly woven together with spring florals, tobacco, wet stones and hints of savory herbs. On the palate this possesses a medium-plus body with notable tannins that provide plenty of structure. This goes on to display excellent overall depth and concentration before ending with a long, beautifully polished finish. I expect this will continue to drink beautifully for years to come and could certainly become even more compelling over time. Readers looking to get their hands on a simply fabulous wine from what may ultimately be the best Appellation in this epic vintage, at a fraction the cost of its highly regarded neighbors (Calon Ségur and Montrose), should not hesitate on this beauty. If thats is not enough to go on, this wine is also consulted by Eric Boissenot, who consults for 4 of the 5 First Growths, as well as many go the other top Grand Cru Classe across the Left Bank.
