The 2014 'Montosoli' Brunello is an absolutely brilliant showing from Altesino, despite the difficult conditions of the vintage. This Brunello instantly impresses, displaying remarkable class and sophistication. As this unwinds in the glass it releases gorgeous aromatics of dried berries, leather, shaved white truffles, walnut, herbs and even subtle hints of dark chocolate all coming together. On the palate this is refined and elegant, with beautiful fine, silky tannins and striking overall balance and precision from start to finish. This is clearly one of the most compelling wines from this vintage, and while it is already extremely appealing, it should also have a fantastic future ahead.
