The 2018 Palengat Vineyard is a sensational release from Quilceda Creek. It is composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, which was sourced from Champoux, Mach One, and Palengat vineyards. This instantly impresses with its striking aromatics of ripe currants and plums, which are laced with tobacco, pencil lead, spices, violets, dried herbs and dark chocolate powder all taking shape. The palate is just as impressive, with a gorgeous medium to full body, that is impeccably structured with fine-grained tannins that result in an utterly seamless mouthfeel. It goes on to display wonderful overall balance and finesse through the long velvery finish, which leaves behind flavors of currents, graphite and dried herb nuances lingering. This is an absolutely fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon that is already drinking exceptionally well, but will also continue to drink beautifully as it evolves over the next two decades.
