The 2021 Bella Union is composed of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot that spent 17 months in French Oak Barrels (50% new, 50% neutral). It begins with inviting aromas of ripe dark berries, dark cherries and plums, which are laced with spices, tobacco and hints of cigar box nuances all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a full body, which is well-structured and supported by plush tannins. It displays notable concentration and depth with flavors of ripe dark fruits and spices lingering all the way through the long finish. A fantastic showing in this vintage and a wine that should be ready to drink upon release.
