DOMAINE SAINT PRÉFERT Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Réserve Auguste Favier' 2011

The 2011 Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve Auguste Favier is a marvelous wine composed of 77% Grenache, 10% old-vine Cinsault, 8% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre from the Quartier des Serres terroir; made of gravel and “galet” rocks. This was fermented using 100% whole clusters and spent 18 month months, 25% in oak barrels, 75% in old 600L demi-muids. It has wonderful aromas of macerated cherries, sweet plums, dark chocolate, lavender, licorice and wild herbs de Provence. It's remarkably balanced and structured with a gorgeous silky texture that rolls effortlessly into the long finish which is laced with chocolate and pepper notes. A beautiful Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Isabel Ferrando. (Best 2014-2025) - August, 2013 (JD)
