Damiano decided to stick with the decision of making only making single varietal wines in 2010, he made two separate bottling’s; one Merlot and one Refosco from the Dominin vineyard. The Merlot is absolutely stunning, dense and concentrated with layers of dark cherry, cassis, pretty violets, spices, graphite and a hint of toast. It shows a remarkable structure with a gorgeous rich, full body that is kept fresh by underlying acidity and minerality. This demonstrates wonderful balance and finesse all the way through the incredible, long lasting finish. The 2010 is a serious, age-worthy 100% Merlot that deserves your full attention, there are very few Merlot’s in all of Italy on this level. Only 120 cases made. (Best 2015-2030) - January, 2014 (JD)
