The M. Étain is an absolutely tremendous effort in 2012. As this bold, expressive Cabernet begins to unwind in the glass it releases intoxicating aromas of ripe dark cherries and black currants followed by kirsch liquor, brown sugar, sweet spices along with lovely dashes of mocha and lightly toasted notes. This formidable wine continues to impress on the broad, full-bodied palate where it offers a wonderful voluptuous, layered texture that is supported by gorgeous soft, round tannins that make it quite accessible even today. Everything comes together seamlessly on the long supple finish, which leaves a long lasting impression of ripe dark fruits and sweet spices. This flat-out delicious stuff and although this should have no problem cellaring for many years to come, it is just about impossible to resist right now. Hard to believe this is a second wine!
