In 2010 Villa Poggio Salvi decided to zone off a parcel of their best vines in order to make this “Cru". This zonation has paid off handsomely, resulting in an absolutely gorgeous Brunello that is fresh and pure with beautiful aromas of sweetly ripened strawberries and cherries followed by wet stones, herbs, licorice, tobacco, spices and hints of dried floral. On the palate this is beautifully structured around fine silky tannins demonstrating excellent focus and balance. It continues to deliver all the way through the long, pretty finish where the ripe red and black fruits continue to resonate on and on. A simply beautiful effort from Winemaker Luca Belingardi that should only get better with time. 111 Cases made. (Best 2016-2032) - February, 2015 (JD)
