The 2012 'Il Pino di Biserno’ is an outstanding blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Petit Verdot from Bibbona in the coastal area of the upper Maremma, just north of Bolgheri. As this opens in the glass it offers wonderful aromas of black cherries, cassis, spring floral and tar along with some fresh savory herbs and pepper. On the palate this is full-bodied, balanced and beautifully structured around nicely polished tannins. Layers of ripe dark fruits cascade onto the plush finish, which shows wonderful length. Overall the 2012 ‘Il Pino’ is another outstanding entry wine for Biserno that should only get better as it evolves with some more bottle age. (Best 2017-2029) - August, 2015 (JD)
