The 2014 Chardonnay from Massican comes from the esteemed Hyde Vineyard in the Napa Valley. The vineyard is over 30 years old and home to some of the finest Chardonnay in Napa. As this slowly unwinds in the glass it begins to reveal notes of white orchard fruits, Meyer lemon, yellow plum, orange peel, followed by flinty mineral, and chalk. The lovely aromas are followed by a zesty infusion of citrus, guava, and a hint of grapefruit. Overall this is a very balanced and precise white, with lots of elegance. This continues to open up with each second of air and should continue to develop with some additional time in bottle. (Best 2016-2022) - August, 2015 (MD)
