Guardiola sits is the hightest elvation for all the cru's for Terre Nere, ranginging from 800-1000 meters altitude. The vineyard is situated on steep slpoes with she soils made up of mostly lean volcanic sand and basaltic pebbles, with a little volcanic ash. The 2013 is another excellent showing from this cru and the Nerello mascalese really shines, offering pretty aromas of red berries and cassis along with floral, wet river stones and hints of mint, which all take shape beautifully in the glass. This continues to impress with its remarkable silky texture, wonderful balance and lovely elegance from start to finish. Overall, the Guardiola is an absolutely stunning wine that will only become better as it evolves over the course of the next decade. 98% Nerello mascalese, 2% Nerello cappuccio. (Best 2017-2030) - July, 2015 (JD)
