This Pinot Noir comes from the Terra de Promissio Vineyard, owned and managed by Charles and Diana Karren. The vineyard was planted in 2002 to Pinot Noir clones 777 and 115. It is located in an area referred to as the Petaluma Gap of the Sonoma Coast AVA, where it benefits from cool maritime breeze. The 2012 is made from Dijon 115, and opens with aromas of black raspberries, pomegranate and red plum, woven together with spices, dried floral and an earth character. It has a beautiful soft round texture and just enough acidity to balance it out, as it makes a seamless transition onto the velvety, spice-tinged finish. Today this is certainly approachable, but should be even better in another year or two. 148 cases made. (Best 2016-2023) - September, 2015 (JD)
