Roughly 97% of Dona Paula wine is exported outside of Argentina. This hand harvested Malbec comes from Dona Paula vineyards in Altamira (at 1,150 meters [at roughly 3700 feet above sea level) and Gualtallary (at roughly 4400 feet above sea level). The soil is mineral driven and rocky in that region. Grapes were then aged in French oak barrels for 10 months (combination of 1st, 2nd and 3rd use barrels). The wine opens with aromas of black cherry, black olive, prune and milk chocolate. There are flavors of roasted figs, milk chocolate, and blackberry cobbler. Look to drink this over the next few years. (Best 2015-2020) - October, 2015 (OB)
