The 2012 Cabernet from Gramercy is a stunning release from this estate. Sourced from the Phinney Hill and Sagemoor vineyards, the wine is a blend of 92% Cabernet and 8% Merlot that was aged for 23 months in French oak (40% new) prior to bottling. This wine was held back a year for their release and with its current showing, you can tell why they elected to do so. Aromatically elegant and needing more than an hour in the decanter to open, there are aromas of red bell pepper, sage, mocha, graphite and creme de cassis. This leads to dense flavors of red cherry, Turkish coffee, blackberry cobbler and crushed mint. Lovely range here, as this wine has a left bank feel. Lovely texture and elegance to this Cab. The structure is there to cellar for a very long time. (Best 2016-2028) - April, 2016 (OB)
