The 2013 Beringer 'Private Reserve' Chardonnay is an stunner by Beringer and former head winemaker Laurie Hook. As good as the 2012 'Private Reserve' Chardonnay was, this is a touch better. The wine saw 80% new French oak and like most vintages of the Private Reserve Chardonnay, there is a very strong oak influence. This wine begins with aromas of nutmeg, wild mushroom, roasted pineapple, golden delicious apple and whipping cream. The wine has rich flavors of vanilla cream, poached pear, Pink Lady apple, and heavy whipping cream. There is a seamless quality to this wine. Gorgeous intensity and fruit weight. This is up there with the 2004 and 2007 Private Reserve bottlings in terms of quality, density and deliciousness. With the density of this wine, this has the stuffing to cellar marvelously.
