Quinta Do Vale Meao is on of the flagship reds from the Douro, and this new release is extremely impressive. The 2013 comes from a growing season that saw intense heat spikes in July and a delayed harvest. The final blending was 60% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 5% Tinta Barroca and 5% Tinta Roriz. This gorgeous bottling begins with characteristics of blackberry pie, blueberry compote and mocha laced with hints of fresh violets. This is intense and layered with great balance and focus. This age worthy Douro is still in its infancy and shows tremendous aging potential. (Best 2017-2030) - May, 2016 (OB)
