The 2012 Gravelly Meadow Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a five-acre vineyard, which is the lowest yielding and the second coolest of all Diamond Creek’s vineyards, behind only Lake Vineyard, which is the coolest. This drop-dead gorgeous Cabernet seduces from the second the cord is pulled, and even becomes more expressive with air, as it releases striking aromas of black cherries and dark currants which come together with graphite, smoke, fresh violets and minerals and brust from the glass. On the palate this beautifully structured Cabernet continues to impress with its remarkable overall balance, depth and concentration together with its lovely finesse and opulent texture. However, the 2012 Gravelly Meadow Cabernet may be most impressive for its perfect balancing act between power and elegance. Today this is already extremely impressive, but also shows wonderful aging potential as well. (Best 2020-2034) - May, 2016 (JD)
