This fantastic Chardonnay is from the heralded Bien Nacido Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley. Winemaker Gavin Chanin picked the grapes across 4 days to achieve ideal ripeness and it reflects beautifully in the wine. The 2014 is very crisp and clean with lovely aromas of lemon, green apple, melon, fresh mineral, white peach and spring flowers, which resonate through the wine. This elegant Chardonnay displays a wonderful texture and is beautifully balanced with gorgeous acidity leading up to the vibrant finish. This can certainly benefit from additional bottle age and it will be a pleasure to watch evolve over the next decade. (Best 2017-2026) - May, 2016 (MD)
