Quilceda Creek follows up their excellent 2012 'Palengat' Red Wine with another gorgeous release in 2013. This is a compelling blend of 58% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc that was aged 20 months in new French oak prior to bottling in June 2015. As this slowly opens in the glass it begins to show deep aromas of crème de cassis, dark cherries, mocha, anise, red bell pepper and sagebrush. This wonderful blend continues to beautifully layer flavors on the full-bodied, concentrated palate. The texture of this wine is absolutely gorgeous which leads to the long, persistent finish. The Merlot is beautifully showcased here as the wine has a sense of elegance and smoothness. Superstar winemaker Paul Golitzin has captured the art of blending here. This is an age worthy effort which should continue to evolve for many years to come. (Best 2017-2035) - June, 2016 (OB)
