The 2014 'Stagecoach Vineyard' Zinfandel is an incredible effort from this great vintage in Napa. The Stagecoach Vineyard has gained national acclaim for Cabernet and Cabernet Franc but also Zinfandel. The Zin sourced from this site takes on a balanced aromatic and flavor profile, even in an exceedingly hot vintage like 2014. This wine begins with perfumed aromatics of prune, red cherry, dill and suggestions of boysenberry compote. There are rich red fruit flavors of cran-pomegranate, and red cherry, with edges of coffee grounds and blood orange. Following two hours of aeration there are some deeper, mocha accents. There is tremendous range at play with this initially feminine style bottling. Give this at least an hour decant to enjoy the full experience as this picks up Cabernet-like nuances at the two hour mark. (Best 2016-2026) - May, 2016 (OB)
