ROBERT BIALE Zinfandel, Monte Rosso Vineyard 2014

The famed Monte Rosso Vineyard can be traced back to the 1880s, where fruit thrived in the mountain conditions. The vineyard is set at 1500 ft. elevation, and has reddish volcanic soils filled with rock and iron. This is one of the state's great sites for Cabernet and Zinfandel. This impressive Zinfandel wine opens with aromas of sage, milk chocolate and anise with pipe tobacco and black cherry accents. There are rich flavors reminiscent of red cherry, leather, blackberry cobbler and black plum. This is just impossible to resist with this combination of terroir and rich red and dark fruits. (Best 2016-2026) - July, 2016 (OB)
