Another scintillating release from Cayuse is their 2013 'Cailloux Vineyard' Syrah. This incredible Syrah was co-fermented with 5% Viognier and shows the true stony character of the region. The Syrah opens with hugely intense aromatics of mint, black olive, blackberry, black cherry and creosote. There are decadent flavors of smoked meats, black olive, Umami and lithe minerality. This translucent Syrah wine has a lovely dense mouthfeel and texture and a long and lingering finish that sits alongside moderate tannins. A phenomenal wine, which should contine to take shape in bottle over the next decade. (Best 2017-2028) - September, 2016 (OB)
