FARELLA Merlot, Coombsville 2012

The 2012 Merlot is sourced from Farella's Estate vineyard in Napa Vally's Coombsville district. This wine is composed of 93% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon which comes from two separate blocks within the vineyard, primarily the "Coombsville Divide" block, as well as small amount from the "Orchard Block". The wine itself displays a wonderful dark color with aromas of blackberries and plum which are woven together with smoke, exotic spices and underlying notes of chocolate. On the palate this possesses a lovely round, supple texture with excellent balance and depth. Flavors of blackberries and spices continue to persist on the finish. Excellent now and should evolve beautifully with some short term cellaring. 375 cases made. (Best 2016-2027) - October, 2016 (JD)
