This is a wonderful showing from Farella, which is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. The Cabernet is sourced from the Old Vine, Rockpile and T-Bud blocks, which are positioned on a fairly steep slope facing due west, which allows the vines additional sun exposure in the late afternoon, greatly benefiting the development of the fruit. The wine itself opens to bold aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, anise, sweet spices and hints of sage. On the palate this is full-bodied and layered with underlying acidity providing lift as it heads into the polished finish. Although this offers some early appeal, it will be best with a few years of bottle age. (Best 2018-2027) - October, 2016 (JD)
