The 2014 'Vieilles Vignes' Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine de la Janasse is blend of old vine Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, which comes from 60-110 year old vines. As this slowly begins to unwind it releases bright aromatics of red cherries, red raspberries along with and exotic spices, forest floor and wet stones. On the palate there are flavors of red cherries, strawberries, orange zest and pomegranate. This displays a wonderful elegant profile with a fine, velvety texture and an exceedingly long finish. Patience will be required as this is going to require some considerable time before it will show its best. (Best 2011-2030) - December, 2016 (JD)
