The 2015 Bürgergarten 'Im Breumel' Grosses Gewächs is a beautiful Riesling which instanly impresses with this percision and focus. The vineyard has its own unique microclimate, enclosed by a high sandstone wall which helps protect it from the effects of cold air. Its southeast exposure allows for it to warm up quickly in the mornings, and the proxmity to the forest allows for rapid cooling after sunset, this allows the fruit to become ripe, while retaining its freshness and high acidity levels. Although this is still a bit reserved, it slowly begins to unwind to gorgeous aromas of white pear, lime, and stony minerals, along with hints of dried herbs. This continues to impress on the palate with its remarkable balance and fresh racy acidity, wrapped around a core of stony minerals, which continue on through the finish. Overall, this is a sensational dry style Riesling, which is all about vibrancy and minerality, as it beautifully showcases the sandstone gravel soils and unique microclimate characteristics of the vineyard.
