The 2012 Padelletti Brunello di Montalcino is a wonderful showing in the vintage. The vines are grown and cultivated in the "Rigaccini" estate, which is a very fertile valley that slopes down to the feet of Montalcino hill, on the east side from the Fortress. The wine itself opens with aromas of red cherries and plums, woven together with spices, licorice, thyme, minerals and hints of wild mushrooms. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully structured with a velvety, yet firm texture. If finishes long, with red fruits and spices lingering on and on. Overall this is a simply gorgeous Brunello which is accessible now, but also shows wonderful aging potential. (Best 2018-2030) - March, 2017 (JD)
