Sourced from Dijon clones in the lower part of the Seven Springs Vineyard, the 2014 'La Source' Chardonnay is an absolutely sensational showing from the winemaking team at Evening Land. The Chardonnay was aged in 75% new French oak for 10 months prior to bottling, and offers inviting aromas of orchard fruits, citrus, morel mushroom, forest floor and hints of peat moss accents. The mid-palate shows lovely minerality with vibrant acidity and lovely weight. There are bright flavors of lemon oil, apple, white grapefruit, wet stone, and suggestions of vanilla blossom leading into a lingering finish. I expect this to evolve over the next few years and continue to pick up some secondary characteristics, further adding to its appeal. That being said, even at this early stage, this lively, mineral-driven chardonnay is already so delicious and nearly impossible to resist. (Best 2017-2028) - March, 2017 (OB)
