DONUM Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 2014

The 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir comes from the Winside vineyard, which was planted in 1997 by Anne Moller-Racke and Joe Nugent to a selection of Pinot Noir clones, including Pommard and Dijon 667 & 115. This Pinot Noir opens to inviting aromatics of raspberries and blueberries, woven together with spices, floral and cherry cola nuances all taking shape. On the palate this is a rich and plentiful style with a lovely round texture and bold flavors of red and dark fruits mixing with exotoc spices, which continue to linger on the finish. This was aged in french oak barrels and while already offering plenty of early appeal, I expect this to continue to take on some secondary characteristics over the next decade. (Best 2018-2028) - May, 2017 (JD)
