VIETTI Barolo 'Brunate' 2013

The 2013 ‘Brunate’ is another remarkable Barolo from Vietti in this vintage. Sourced from the historical Brunate cru in La Morra. Brunate is located on the south side towards Barolo, with 4,600 plants per hectare with with vines averaging 50 years old planted to soils which are composed of a mix of limestone and clay. This Barolo was aged for approximately 30 months between French oak barrels and Slovenian oak casks and offers wonderful aromatic nuances of ripe strawberries, raspberries and cherries woven together with sweet spices, fresh spring florals with underlying hints of mint, leather and tar all taking shape in the glass. This continues to impress with its exceptional purity and elegant profile, as it expands beautifully across the palate with its gorgeous velvety texture. The balance, focus and precision this demonstrates is outstanding, as it seamlessly leads up to the long finish, which leaves behind lovely flavors of fresh red fruits and spice notes lingering on. Overall, the 2013 Brunate is a simply stunning wine from Luca Currado, and while it certainly offers some early appeal, this is ultimately a Barolo which will continue to evolve and age gracefully for many years to come.
