QUILCEDA CREEK Red Wine 'CVR' 2014

The 2014 'CVR' Red Wine begins with wonderful aromatics of red cherry and crème de cassis along with anise and crushed wet rocks. The mouthfeel is dense and concentrated with flavors of crème de cassis, coffee grounds, mocha and crushed mint. The intensity is profound, as the rich flavors delight the senses. This shows remarkable overall tension, precision and minerality, as the weight and structure shine through. Today, this is absolutely gorgeous as everything comes together beautifully on the long plush finish. This wine is truly a remarkable value and one of the most impressive reds in Washington. Previous Tasting Note:
Possessing an inky purple color, this gorgeous wine is a declassified blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec that was sourced from the Champoux, Tapteil, Wallula Gap and Palengat vineyards. Opening with a bouquet of anise, crème de cassis, dark chocolate shavings, and suggestions of Turkish coffee all coming together to form the intoxicating aromatics. Showing remarkable poise on the mid-palate and finish, the wine has deep flavors of coffee grounds, black tea, crème de cassis, and a graphite edge. Overall, the 2014 is one of the more compelling examples of this blend made. If approaching in its youth be sure to allow for some air contact for it to best express itself. (Best 2016-2027) - November, 2016 (OB) - 93 Points
