The 2015 'In The Rocks' Syrah is utterly compelling in this vintage. Sourced from a 22.5 acre vineyard in the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater this Syrah includes 5% Viognier and was aged for 30% new French oak for 18 months prior to bottling. The aromatic range is simply sensational with smoked meats, iron, Satsuma orange, umami, black tea as well as black olive tapenade nuances that fill the glass. The wine has wonderful elegance with a gorgeous silky mouthfeel, showcasing Asian spices, black winter truffle, black tea, bacon fat, ash and blood orange elements which expand through the palate. The complexity is simply stunning as it continues to impress through the finish, leaving behind a lasting impression . While this is already quite appealing, it will likely show its best over the course of next decade. (Best 2017-2027) - August, 2017 (OB)
