BERINGER VINEYARDS Merlot, Bancroft Ranch 2013

Beringer’s Bancroft Ranch vineyard is located at an elevation of 1,800 feet on Howell Mountain. The 2013 Merlot is a gorgeous blend of 82% Merlot with the remainder Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine begins with aromatics of black cherries and dark currants along with red bell pepper, green peppercorn and anise. This has a wonderful plush texture that glides through effortlessly on the mid-palate with flavors of crème de cassis anise red bell pepper and cigar smoke flavors. The acidity of this wine is gorgeous as is shows a wonderful sense of place. (Best 2017-2030) - September, 2017 (OB)
