La Encantada is one of the coolest sites in the Santa Rita Hills appellation, with North facing mesas above the Santa Ynez river which are open to the full impact of cooling afternoon coastal breezes. The 2013 Pinot Noir was aged for 17 months in 40% new French oak and begins with inviting aromatics of spice box, red cherries, pomegranate and orange zest. Lithe and plush, this wine has wonderful salinity, showing a lovely range of flavors including red cherry, guava and red raspberry. This is balanced and precise, while showing a silky mouthfeel and a wonderful minerality. (Best 2017-2029) - August, 2017 (OB)
