The 2015 'Reserve des Deux Freres' Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a mammoth of a wine. The 100% Grenache opens to profound aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries which are woven together with violets, smoke and spices. On the palate this is full-bodied and remarkably dense, with a rich, opulent mouthfeel. It continues to impress with its outstanding depth and concentration and layers of ripe dark fruits envelope the palate and leave behind an ultra-long finish. A massive wine, but everything is held into place nicely. Allow this another year or two to tone down just a bit, and enjoy over the course of the following decade-plus.
