The 2013 'Cuvée Laurence' Châteauneuf-du-Pape is an excellent showing given the challenging conditions in this vintage. This cuvée is typically composed of 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre along 10% other authorized varieties. It begins with inviting aromatics of black raspberries and red plums woven together with exotic spices, smoke, leather, tobacco and traces of minerality all coming together beautifully in the glass. This continues to impress with its gorgeous sleek texture and wonderful overall balance. Flavors of cherries, dark berries and spices continue to build on the palate and linger on the finish. While appealing now, this should certainly continue to evolve nicely over the course of the next decade.
